Unicode decrementer

World's simplest unicode tool

This browser-based utility decreases Unicode code point values. Anything that you paste or enter in the text area on the left automatically gets converted to integer code points, their values get decreased, and the modified code points get converted back to new Unicode symbols on the right. It supports all Unicode symbols and it works with emoji characters. You can also specify the decrement step value, activate the ignore-space and ignore-newline options, set a delimiter character for the decremented values, and replace or delete code points that after decreasing go out of the valid Unicode range. Created by encoding gurus from team Browserling.

Step and Delimiter
Decrement step. (This value will be subtracted from each code position of input data.)
Delimit decremented glyphs by this character.
Spaces and Newlines
Leave space characters as they are when converting.
Leave newline characters as they are when converting.
Invalid Code Positions
If a code position no longer lies in the range 0 to 1114111 then remove it from the output.
Use the unrecognized symbol in place of code positions that no longer lie in the range from 0 to 1114111.
Unicode decrementer tool What is a unicode decrementer?
This tool decreases code point values of Unicode characters. Code points are special numeric values that are assigned to each letter, number, symbol, emoji, and all other glyphs that you see on the computer screen. Code points are sometimes called code positions. They are usually written in the hexadecimal format "U+XXXX" and are described in the Unicode table. Decreasing a Unicode character means finding its code point, subtracting the "Step" value from it, and then converting the new code point to the new corresponding Unicode character. The formula that this tool uses is "Code Point - Step", so by entering a positive step value, you will get smaller code positions, and entering a negative number, you will get characters with larger code points. You can also activate options that will leave space and newline characters unchanged, and set a delimiter symbol for the decremented values. If during the conversion some of code point values become less than 1 (or greater than 1114111), then you can substitute them with the unknown Unicode symbol "" or remove them.

Change Unicode Font
In this example, we change the font of the input text phrase from Mathematical Bold Fraktur to Mathematical Bold Script. We accomplish this by using a decreasing step value of 156. The code position of the bold-fraktur letter "𝖘" is U+1d598 and when we subtract 156 from it, we get the code point U+1d4fc, which corresponds to the bold-script letter "𝓼". We also use the "Ignore Spaces" option so that two words are clearly separated.

Multi-line Mode
This example reduces the numerical values of code points on three separate lines by 7 positions. It skips the newline characters to save the physical structure of all lines. By adjusting the code points, the colorful squares convert to circles, white letters became multi-colored, and filled round digits are no longer filled.

Foods Emoji to Drinks Emoji
In this example, we convert food emojis to drink emojis by using a negative step value of -35. As the formula for conversion is "Code Point - Step", and the step is negative, it actually becomes "Code Point + 35", which means we shift towards larger code positions. Instead of the code point U+1f354, which corresponds to the burger emoticon "🍔", we get the code point U+1f377, which is the wine glass "🍷" emoticon. We also use the "\n" symbol in the delimiter option field to output each drink on a new line.
